Mastercard Launches Username-based Transfers on Polygon

On Tuesday, Polygon Labs announced via X that Mastercard has chosen Polygon to launch username-based transfers for self-custody wallets, with Mercuryo. Through the Mastercard Crypto Credential, users can onboard once, receive a verified username, link their wallet, and get assets instantly. Without ever copying a hex string again.

Mercuryo will onboard verified users and issue credentials, while Polygon provides the blockchain rails. Mastercard chose Polygon because of its low-cost infrastructure built for speed, reliability, and scalability.

Polygon (previously Matic Network) is the first well-structured, easy-to-use platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development. Its core component is Polygon SDK, a modular, flexible framework that supports building multiple types of applications. POL is down 0.58% in the last 24 hours and trades at $0.1454.
