The Republican candidate has risen in popularity over the past year and now stands second to Donald Trump in the latest polling.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a candidate for the GOP presidential race, spoke at Messari’s Mainnet crypto conference. During his speech, he revealed his intention to release a detailed crypto policy framework before Thanksgiving.

Ramaswamy spoke with Messari CEO Ryan Selkis in a "fireside chat." He discussed recent SEC rulings and the role of crypto in disrupting traditional finance. Ramaswamy expressed a positive view of blockchain technology and criticized regulatory agencies. Selkis agreed with Ramaswamy's assessment, saying the framework is currently "75% there."

Ramaswamy has strong views on the future of governmental interface with crypto. He believes that regulators constitute an unconstitutional fourth branch of government. According to Ramaswamy, these regulators hold significant political power without being elected, and they reside in government agency buildings in Washington, DC. He refers to their presence as a "cancer" within the federal government.

Anthony Scaramucci, known for his short time as Donald Trump's communications director, recently appeared at a crypto conference. This highlights the increasing importance of cryptocurrency in U.S. politics. Selkis, the host, acknowledged the significance by stating that no one would have believed a presidential candidate would speak at such an event a few years ago.

Bitcoin, originally rooted in libertarian principles, has avoided being labeled on any particular side of the U.S. political spectrum. However, Ramaswamy's support for crypto suggests a potential shift towards the right for the industry.

Ramaswamy, a pharmaceutical entrepreneur, is running for president in 2024. He presents himself as a youthful, tech-forward successor to Donald Trump's populist MAGA movement. Ramaswamy is even more conservative than Trump on various issues. His strong performance in the August debate caught the attention of influential figures from the Trump administration, such as Mike Pence and Nikki Haley. Their attacks highlighted Ramaswamy's quick rise as a significant political contender.

According to a CNN poll, the political newcomer is currently in second place in the nomination race, just behind Donald Trump. This puts him ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, initially seen as Trump's main competition. Ramaswamy has expressed positive views on cryptocurrency, including a recent tweet celebrating a court ruling in favor of Grayscale against the SEC, which was seen as beneficial to the blockchain industry.
