Payments technology company Stables is expanding its African strategy through a collaboration with Access Bank South Africa.
In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, the two organizations revealed that they will explore next-generation payment solutions intended to improve how businesses send, receive, and manage money across borders.
The initiative forms part of Stables’ broader effort to develop payment infrastructure in high-growth markets, with South Africa serving as its initial entry point into the continent.
Collaboration Targets Cross-Border Payment Challenges
Trade between African economies and international markets continues to grow, increasing demand for payment infrastructure that is fast, transparent and capable of supporting commerce across multiple jurisdictions.
Despite this growth, businesses still face long-standing challenges when transferring money internationally, including processing delays, limited visibility and operational complexity.
By combining Access Bank South Africa’s banking experience with Stables’ payment technology expertise, the organizations will assess opportunities to make cross-border transactions more efficient while maintaining strong governance, compliance and customer-protection standards.
Access Bank Highlights Role of Payment Innovation
Abiodun Dada, chief executive officer of Access Bank South Africa, said innovation remains central to the bank’s efforts to create value for customers.
“Our partnership with Stables represents an opportunity to explore new approaches to payments that can support businesses operating across international markets,” Dada said.
He added that the organizations will assess solutions that could improve efficiency, strengthen the customer experience and contribute to the future development of payments.
Stables CEO and co-founder Bernardo Bilotta described Africa as one of the most important growth markets in the global payments industry.
“Africa is one of the most important growth markets in global payments, and it sits at the center of where Stables is heading,” Bilotta said. “South Africa is where we are starting.”
He added that businesses increasingly need payment infrastructure capable of moving at the speed of modern commerce. Working with Access Bank South Africa will allow Stables to explore solutions designed around how companies across the region move money.
Stables and Access Bank South Africa will evaluate potential use cases across payments and related financial services.
The work will focus primarily on supporting businesses operating across regional and international markets. The organizations did not announce any immediate product launches or customer offerings.
Any future services developed through the collaboration will remain subject to applicable regulatory requirements, governance reviews, compliance procedures and internal approvals.
