Robinhood Takes Equity Stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com to Expand Betting Markets

Robinhood has partnered with Crypto.com and OG.com to expand sports and election prediction markets after the business generated $156 million in quarterly revenue.

Robinhood Takes Equity Stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com to Expand Betting Markets

TL;DR

  • Robinhood has partnered with Crypto.com and OG.com to expand its prediction market business.

  • The brokerage will take equity stakes in both companies, priced in line with Crypto.com Group’s recent $20 billion valuation.

  • The partnership will begin with football event contracts as the 2026 NFL season starts.

  • Robinhood will continue routing contracts through Kalshi, ForecastEX and Rothera.

Commission-free brokerage Robinhood has entered a strategic partnership with Crypto.com and OG.com to broaden its selection of prediction market contracts.

Under the agreement, Robinhood will route some event contracts to OG.com while taking equity stakes in both OG.com and Crypto.com.

The value of those investments will be based on the same pricing used in Citadel Securities’ recent investment in Crypto.com Group, which valued the company at $20 billion.

The partnership will initially focus on football contracts, coinciding with the start of the 2026 NFL season on Wednesday night.

Robinhood Adds More Prediction Market Venues

Robinhood said distributing event contracts across multiple platforms would help create a more diverse and resilient marketplace.

JB Mackenzie, the company’s vice president and general manager of futures and prediction markets, said the return of football and the approaching U.S. midterm elections could drive an active autumn for the platform.

OG.com will become one of several venues supplying contracts to Robinhood customers. The brokerage will continue routing event contracts through Kalshi, ForecastEX and Rothera.

Using multiple venues could help Robinhood expand contract availability, improve market depth and reduce its dependence on any single prediction market operator.

The Wall Street Journal first reported in July that Robinhood was discussing a potential prediction market partnership with Crypto.com.

Robinhood customers will gain access to a broader range of sports markets during the new season.

Available contracts will include predictions on game results and individual player outcomes. The company will also introduce custom combinations that allow customers to group multiple outcomes within a single position.

The initial focus on football gives Robinhood an opportunity to capitalize on the NFL’s large U.S. audience and the strong demand for sports-related prediction products.

Event contracts allow users to trade on whether a specific outcome will occur. Their prices typically reflect the market’s implied probability of that event, with successful contracts settling according to predefined terms.

Although they can resemble conventional sports bets, federally regulated event contracts operate through designated derivatives market structures.

Robinhood Plans Dedicated Election Hub

Robinhood is also expanding its political prediction market experience ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.

The brokerage plans to launch a dedicated election hub featuring interactive heat maps. The visual tools will allow users to monitor candidate performance across different races and locations.

Once polls close, the hub will display the number of ballots counted and that figure’s share of the total expected vote.

The election product will combine live results with Robinhood’s event contracts, giving customers a centralized place to follow political contests and market-implied probabilities.

Political contracts could become an important source of volume as the midterms approach, although such products continue to attract regulatory and public-policy scrutiny.

Robinhood’s prediction market division recorded its highest revenue and trading volume during the first eight months of the year.

The company reported 13.6 billion event contracts traded during the second quarter, including 5 billion linked to the World Cup.

That activity generated approximately $156 million in revenue, representing a 50% increase from the preceding quarter.

The period also marked the first time Robinhood’s prediction market business produced more revenue than its cryptocurrency operation.

The result shows that event contracts are becoming a meaningful part of Robinhood’s business rather than a secondary feature for existing customers.

Equity Stakes Deepen Robinhood’s Commitment

Taking ownership positions in Crypto.com and OG.com gives Robinhood a financial interest in the infrastructure supporting its prediction market expansion.

The investments establish a deeper relationship than a conventional contract-routing agreement. If the platforms attract additional activity through Robinhood, the brokerage could benefit both from its own customer revenue and the value of its equity holdings.

Crypto.com gains another distribution channel through one of the largest retail brokerage platforms in the United States, while OG.com gains access to Robinhood’s customer base as a contract venue.
