The cryptic message has fueled expectations that the company could announce a fresh Bitcoin (BTC) acquisition on Monday. Strategy has not disclosed a BTC purchase for five consecutive weeks, marking one of the longest pauses in its aggressive accumulation strategy.
Last Sunday's chart post, captioned "We're gonna need another color," was followed by the company's July 27 announcement that it had not acquired any additional Bitcoin during the reporting period.
Strategy Holds 843,775 BTC Despite Five-Week Buying Pause
According to Strategy's latest filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company held 843,775 BTC as of July 26.
The Bitcoin treasury was accumulated for approximately $63.69 billion, at an average purchase price of $75,476 per BTC.
With Bitcoin trading around $63,200, the holdings are currently valued at roughly $53.3 billion, leaving Strategy with an unrealized loss of about $10.4 billion compared with its aggregate acquisition cost.
The company's last reported Bitcoin purchase came on June 22, when it acquired 520 BTC for approximately $34.9 million.
Since then, Strategy has taken several capital management steps instead of expanding its Bitcoin position. Between June 29 and July 5, the firm sold 3,588 BTC for roughly $216 million to fund preferred-stock distributions and strengthen its U.S. dollar reserves.
During the five-week buying hiatus, Strategy also increased its cash reserves to $3.75 billion, sold additional common shares, and initiated repurchases of its STRC preferred stock. Analysts at TD Cowen and Benchmark have expressed support for these capital allocation decisions.
Strategy Maintains 12% STRC Dividend
Separately, Saylor announced on Friday that Strategy will continue offering a 12% variable annualized dividend on its STRC preferred shares for record dates beginning in August.
STRC distributes cash dividends twice each month based on its $100 stated value. At the current dividend rate, investors receive $0.50 per share every semi-monthly payment.
The company reviews the dividend rate monthly with the goal of keeping STRC trading close to its $100 target price. Final dividend payments remain subject to approval by Strategy's board of directors.
In a July 27 statement, Strategy said management plans to recommend maintaining the 12% annualized rate until STRC demonstrates "sustained, healthy trading" near its stated value.
Strategy CEO Phong Le said the company will adjust its repurchase activity depending on market conditions.
"We intend to scale our purchases according to both price and liquidity—more at deeper discounts and less as the STRC trading price approaches $100 per share—while allowing independent market demand to establish a healthy and sustainable market," Le said.
STRC ended Friday's trading session at $89.46, about 10.5% below its stated value of $100, implying a yield of roughly 13.4% at the current dividend rate.
