Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have launched a blockchain-based Supplier CO2 Emission Monitoring System (SCEMS) on the Hedera mainnet.

HBAR Foundation, the development team behind the Hedera blockchain, announced via a blog post on Wednesday that Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have launched a blockchain-based Supplier CO2 Emission Monitoring System (SCEMS) on the Hedera mainnet.

The foundation stated that SCEMS is designed to compute carbon emissions at every stage of the supply chain, enabling Hyundai Motor and Kia to secure reliable data across its supplier’s business operations, including procurement of raw materials, the manufacturing process and product transportation.

Hedera Hashgraph is distributed public ledger infrastructure. According to the team, it offers significant improvements over existing blockchains in five areas: performance, security, governance, stability, and regulatory compliance.
