The Immutable team announced via X on Wednesday that Ethereum’s Shanghai Upgrade is coming to Immutable zkEVM. The Shanghai hard fork will occur on zkEVM Testnet on 12 March 2024 at 10 PM UTC and zkEVM Mainnet on 26 March 2024 at 10 PM UTC.

This upgrade will allow Immutable to integrate with Polygon Zero (zk-prover) and enable shadow proving following the adjustment. Anyone running an RPC node on Immutable zkEVM will need to deploy the latest immutable/go-ethereum Docker image version 1.0.0-beta.1 to stay in sync with the network once the hard fork date has passed.

Immutable X is an L2 scaling solution for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Ethereum, with instant trading, massive scalability, and zero gas fees for minting and trading with shared security with the Ethereum mainnet. IMX is up by 8% today and is trading at $3.1367 at press time.
