An Ethereum ICO participant has transferred $23 million worth of ETH to a new wallet after more than a decade of inactivity.
On Tuesday evening, the address "0xCD5 … 7a336" moved approximately 10,000 ETH, which had been held since the ICO event in 2015. At today's price, the 10,000 ETH is valued at around $23.1 million, marking a 7,465-fold increase from its initial value of $3,100.
This wallet, which received the Ethereum on July 30, 2015, is believed to have been part of the Ethereum ICO. Although the reason behind the transfer remains unclear, such large movements are often followed by token sales.
This isn't the first time dormant ICO wallets have come to life. In 2025, multiple Ethereum ICO participants emerged from years of dormancy, coinciding with Ethereum’s new all-time highs. One notable ICO whale moved 150,000 ETH last September after staying inactive for three years.
Ethereum (ETH) is currently trading at $2,335, reflecting a 1.9% increase in the past 24 hours, though it remains well below its all-time high of $4,946 from last year.
