Ethereum’s Beacon Chain Suffers Finality Issue
The Ethereum blockchain has suffered a technical issue. The technical issue affected the Ethereum network for a brief period and ensured that transactions finality was not taking place.
At the moment, the cause of the issue is still unknown, but the Ethereum developers say they are investigating the situation. However, network data and statements from developers indicate that transaction finality has returned.
Transaction finality is the state in which transactions can no longer be changed. Prysmatic Labs co-founder Preston van Loon revealed that finality had been restored, but they are yet to determine the root cause. He pointed out that something happened to cause several client implementations to work really hard to keep up with the chain
Data sources indicate that the issue was experienced by network validators. Data provider Beaconcha.in revealed that Ethereum epochs 200,552 thru 200,554 saw a steep drop in the number of attestations received.
The Ethereum network completed its proof of stake migration earlier this year. ETH, the native coin of the Ethereum ecosystem, has been underperforming in recent weeks and currently stands above the $1,750 mark.
