The EOS network recently celebrated its fifth anniversary since mainnet launch, with the EOS Network Foundation highlighting the achievements recorded during that period.

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF), the lead developer of the EOS Network blockchain, is celebrating a monumental milestone, achieving five years of continuous operation since EOS was launched back in 2018.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, the team said it had been five years since the launch of the EOS Network and an impressive 1,800+ consecutive days of uptime, proving itself to be the world’s most reliable, highly-performant blockchain network of all.

This latest development comes a few weeks after the launch of the EOS Ethereum Virtual Machine. Following the launch of the EOS EVM, the network has been able to achieve a  performance of more than 100 million transactions per day while the EOS EVM clocks in at an industry-leading 950 Swaps Per Second, making it the fastest EVM on the market and the go-to network for high performance, throughput and reliable uptime.

Since its launch in 2018, EOS quickly developed a reputation for being one of the most powerful, robust, and reliable L-1s in the business.

EOS Focuses On Community Empowerment

Despite its early progress, the EOS network hit a stumbling block as the community waited in vain for more than two years for its original developer Block.one to fulfill its promises of meaningful investment.

The disappointment resulted in the rolling out of multiple initiatives that were either never attempted or quickly paused. The OS ecosystem builders were strung along, given false hope of being funded before ultimately being ghosted.

The ENF explained that those were dark times for the EOS ecosystem. However, the EOS community finally lost patience with Block.one and the desire for change led to the founding of the EOS Network Foundation under the leadership of Founder and CEO Yves La Rose in August 2021.

The ENF has since invested millions of dollars into the ecosystem in the shape of grants, a new crowdfunding platform and the creation of working groups tasked with setting a roadmap for future development.

A new whitepaper was rolled out, citing the new vision for the future of the EOS network.

The community forked the old EOSIO codebase to create a new, community-owned and community-maintained Antelope protocol. With Antelope, the future of EOS was placed firmly in the hands of the ENF and its community.

Furthermore, the EOS Network upgraded itself from the outdated EOSIO codebase to the improved Antelope protocol, a day when it could finally celebrate EOS’s independence.

While commenting on this latest development, ENF Founder and CEO Yves La Rose, stated that;

“As we commemorate the 5th anniversary of the launch of the EOS Network, I am profoundly inspired by the resilience of our community. We have endured much uncertainty standing against corporate greed in defense of our network. Today, we have emerged as champions for the ethos of free and open-source software, forging a path to boundless innovation, not just for ourselves, but for the entire Web3 space.”

Following the launch of the new Antelope IBC solution in January 2023, EOS hit yet another key milestone with the launch of EOS EVM, the fastest EVM on the market, to enable full interoperability with Ethereum, blockchain’s largest and most thriving ecosystem.

La Rose added: “We now expand outward to embrace the limitless potential of joining together across networks. With our recent launch of the EOS EVM, and new markets opening to us as never before, EOS stands uniquely positioned to expand the opportunities for all network participants of the Web3 era. Our formative years have taught us much, and we are just getting started.”

EOS Has More In Store

The ENF stated that the revitalization of the EOS Network is just the beginning. In recent months, the foundation has established significant partnerships with the likes of Binance, Messari and DWF Labs, creating yet more opportunities for ecosystem expansion and growth.

La Rose further stated that;

“As we continue on this remarkable journey, I am reminded of these words from Horace: "Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which, in prosperous circumstances, would have lain dormant." Few today yet realize the tremendous will we have honed under such great pressure, or the strength with which we will now rise.”

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) is a not-for-profit organization that coordinates financial and non-financial support to encourage the growth and development of the EOS Network. The ENF is the hub of the EOS Network, harnessing the power of decentralization as a force for positive global change to chart a coordinated future for the EOS Network.
