Modular blockchain network Dymension has launched its incentivized testnet for RollApps, allowing developers to interact and build the internet of rollups.

Modular blockchain network Dymension announced on Wednesday, August 23rd, that it had launched its incentivized testnet. The testnet is set to go live in the last week of August and will give users and builders a taste of what it’s like to interact and build the internet of rollups.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, Dymension said the incentivized programme will enable testers to utilize Roller, a CLI tool designed to simplify deployment of application-specific rollups known as RollApps. Developed in conjunction with data availability networks Celestia and Avail, the testnet will support the creation of RollApps using customizable VMs such as the EVM.

Furthermore, the incentivized testnet was preceded by a devnet for early participants. It saw the deployment of more than 500 RollApps, each connected with IBC via the Dymension Hub.

Dymension’s incentivized testnet is expected to attract particular interest from participants within the Cosmos and Ethereum ecosystems. This is on account of its being the first network to form rollups with IBC as a bridge.

Dymension said its users can easily interact with the different RollApps via the Portal (portal.dymension.xyz), Dymension's primary web app interface for users. The Portal provides various statistics about the ecosystem and enables users to bridge with MetaMask over IBC.

Dymension is one of the few protocols focused on application-specific rollups and is the only one that enables IBC connectivity out of the box. In addition to being agnostic in terms of the data availability network, Dymension delivers unlimited scale while maintaining interoperability.

Earlier this year, Dymension raised $6.7M in private funding with Big Brain Holdings and Stratos participating along with Shalom Meckenzie of DraftKings and onchain gaming DAO Matchbox.

Dymension’s incentivized testnet will publish data to Celestia and Avail, while Ethereum and other Cosmos chains will be made available as options in the future.

In addition to that, Dymension Hub will provide secure bridging and interoperability. This simplifies the process of deploying and interacting with rollups and will deliver cost-efficient dapps that can scale to support a high volume of users.

Dymension is set to support the EVM, CosmWasm and other popular virtual machines. The creation of a modular series of blockchains will make it more affordable for developers to deploy dApps.

Dymension is a network of modular blockchains called RollApps powered by the Dymension Hub. Dymension allows anyone to build and deploy their own consensus-free blockchain as a RollApp.
