The Polygon team announced via a blog post on Monday that Canto, a Layer 1 blockchain focused on advancing decentralized finance, is migrating to a zero-knowledge Layer 2 on Ethereum powered by Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK).

Polygon CDK is permissionless and open-source tech that can be leveraged to design and build ZK chains to reflect any community’s ethos. If agreement is reached by the Canto Commons, core devs will be able to build a ZK L2 that extends the community’s defining ethos of permissionless sovereignty and liquidity as a public good, the Polygon team added.

Polygon (previously Matic Network) is the first well-structured, easy-to-use platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development. Its core component is Polygon SDK, a modular, flexible framework that supports building multiple types of applications. MATIC is up by 1% in the last 24 hours and is currently trading at $0.5292.
