Wise hiring Digital Asset Lead, suggests Stablecoin ambitions

The major global currency and payment platform Wise has announced that they are hiring a Digital Assets Product Lead with a history of experience in stablecoins.

Matthew Salisbury, the Product Director at Wise, posted the announcement on LinkedIn. The LinkedIn job posting, which has drawn more than 100 applicants, indicates that the hired individual will work with Wise's Accounts team to broaden the company's product range and investigate ways for customers to store digital assets in their Wise accounts.

Wise is looking for applicants who have a minimum of five years in product management and demonstrated success in launching consumer-facing products within the digital asset or blockchain industry.

Stablecoin Potential

Stablecoins are seen as a way to facilitate international transfers. This pòtential aligns well with Wise, formerly known as TransferWise, and their main draw of currency exchange global payments.

Other traditional finance institutions are launching stablecoin initiatives. For example, ING and 8 other institutions have finalized their plan to launch a Euro stablecoin in 2026. Similarly Visa has launched pilot programs for both Dollar- and Euro-pegged stablecoins

With the GENIUS Act in the US, and the MiCA framework in the European Union, more and more institutions are feeling comfortable innovating in the cryptocurrency and stablecoin sector.
