On Wednesday, Sonic Labs (formerly Fantom Foundation) announced via X that Sonic mainnet 2.1.2 is now live, introducing Pectra compatibility and several improvements across the network.
This upgrade brings account abstraction, gas subsidies, smart wallets, stable coin gas payments, and more. Users can now enjoy programmable wallets with batching, social-recovery, multi-sig and spending limits. Apps now have account abstraction available to improve UX and reduce friction.
With ERC4337 on Sonic, wallets can be more than basic EOAs. Users can deploy smart contract wallets, or even let their existing EOA behave like one for a single transaction (via EIP7702).
Sonic (previously Fantom) is building a programmable platform on a directed acyclic-graph-based distributed ledger. Its S coin is down 1.1% in the last 24 hours and is currently trading at $0.1113.
