On Monday, Sonic Labs (formerly Fantom Foundation) announced via X that Sonic mainnet 2.1 is ready and has urged validators and node operators to upgrade their clients.
Sonic’s latest mainnet introduces compatibility with Ethereum’s Pectra upgrade and adds to the blockchain network’s capabilities by allowing developers and users to deploy smart contracts and experience Sonic’s speed.
Once upgraded, the nodes will continue to operate on the current mainnet until the full transition. The upgrade is backward compatible, meaning developers can upgrade now without any interruption.
Sonic (previously Fantom) is building a programmable platform on a directed acyclic-graph-based distributed ledger. Its S coin is down 9.36% in the last 24 hours and is currently trading at $0.3080.
