Mark Zuckerberg announced at a conference in Austin, Texas, on March 15th, that Instagram is “working on bringing NFTs to the platform in the near term”. The move would align with Meta’s vision, integrating the virtual metaverse with the real world. 

Back in October 2021, when Facebook rebranded as Meta, the company’s head of metaverse products, Vishal Shah, said the Meta would support NFTs.
