Centrifuge Launches World's First Licensed S&P 500 Index Fund Token, Powered by Wormhole

On Thursday, the Wormhole team announced via a blog post that Centrifuge has launched the Janus Henderson Anemoy S&P 500® Index Fund Token (SPXA), the first tokenized index fund ever licensed by S&P.

The fund launches on Base, with future multichain expansion powered exclusively by Wormhole's institutional-grade interoperability platform. The S&P 500, representing roughly 80% of U.S. market capitalization and underpinning over $6 trillion in ETF assets, is now accessible with 24/7 availability, transparent holdings, and DeFi-native composability.

As SPXA grows, Wormhole will enable its expansion to multiple blockchain networks, ensuring investors and applications can interact with the fund wherever liquidity resides.

Wormhole is a leading interoperability platform powering multichain applications and bridges at scale. Wormhole’s modular suite of open-source, permissionless protocols and tools is being used by multichain builders to create some of the most popular web3 applications. W is trading at $0.1030, up 5.66% in the last 24 hours.
